The VMWare Workstation Player 16 website download .bundle seems to have a few issues with kernels using GCC less than 10.2. So the easiest method of installing is to use the wget in terminal:

    sudo apt update

    sudo apt install build-essential linux-headers-generic

    wget --user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0" https://www.vmware.com/go/getplayer-linux

    chmod +x getplayer-linux

    sudo ./getplayer-linux --required --eulas-agreed

NOTE: Unfortunately, VMWare 14+ has issues when installing on CPU’s that were released prior to 2011 (Xeon E5450 or Core2Quad Q9550 for example). My plan was to use these machines with Linux and have them use VMWare with 3D acceleration using Windows 98SE or Windows XP. This leaves me to try VMWare 12.5.9 and trying to install on PeppermintOS 10 Respin which is kernel 5.0 or 5.4 (and can be upgraded to 5.10). There seems to be a few issues doing this which I am going to try and workout. When I can, I will update here for that.
