Unraid, like Linux, is a constantly upgraded platform with numerous old programs still listed and do not work anymore. Not to mention mamy guides missing key information because the author thinks the reader should already know.

Unraid can be used with raid controllers. It is not suggested to use the raid controller on the data disks but for the parity drives.

Here is what I am thinking:
    Cache Drive Raid0 240GB (2x120GB)
*Passthru 1x 120GB SSD for VM OS Drive
    Parity Drive Raid0 15TB (5x3TB)
    Data Drives 32TB (4x8TB)
